Real Estate Taxes
Real Estate taxes are assessed as of January 1st of each year. Billing is on annual basis and payments are due on December 5th of each year. Late payment penalty of 10% is applied on December 6th. Interest is assessed as of January 1st at a rate of 10% per year. Failure to receive a tax bill does not relieve you of the penalty and the interest on a past due bill.

Personal Property Taxes

Real Estate and Personal Property Prepayments
Prepayments are accepted if you would like to make payments in advance of the due date for real estate and personal property taxes. Please call the office for details, 804-333-3555.
Payment Methods
The Treasurer’s Office has several ways you can pay:

To avoid additional cost, any payment is on time if postmarked on or before the due date. Make checks or money orders payable to “Richmond County, Warsaw, VA” and reference your account number on the check
In Person
You may pay in person at the Treasurer’s Office in the Richmond County Government Complex, located on the first floor of the Richmond County Office Building, near the Public Meeting Room.

Drop Box
Checks and Money Orders (no cash) can be dropped in our 24 hour drop box. This box is located to the right of the front doors (glass double doors) of the Richmond County Office Building on the 1st floor (Public Meeting Room Entrance)
Online Payments
You can make Personal Property and Real Estate Tax payments online. You have the option to pay by credit card or electronic check. There is a convenience fee for these transactions. The fee is calculated prior to authorization, so that you may either proceed or cancel the transaction.
You must call the Treasurer’s Office to obtain the amount due.
For Personal Property Tax Payments you will need your 5 Digit Account Number.
For Real Estate Tax Payments you will need your 5 digit Account Number and your Parcel Number.
If you have a DMV Stop on your vehicle registration and are trying to renew your tags, you must come to the Treasurer’s Office to pay the Personal Property Taxes in order for your stop to be released that day. Online payments take 2 to 3 days to process and the DMV Stop will not be released until the online payment is deposited.

804-333-3555 if you are missing any bills. UNDER THE CODE OF VIRGINIA, IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE TAXPAYER TO OBTAIN ALL TAX BILL(S) AND TO MAKE TIMELY PAYMENT.
