Notice is hereby given to the property owners of Richmond County, Virginia, that any appeals of the 2020 Real Estate Reassessment may be filed with the Board of Equalization no later than March 1, 2020.  For more information regarding this appeal process, you may contact the Richmond County Administration Office at (804) 333-3415.



Public notice is hereby given that the Board of Equalization for Richmond County, VA will meet on the days hereafter listed for the purpose of hearing complaints of inequalities including errors in acreage. Upon hearing such complaints, either oral or written, the Board will give consideration and INCREASE, DECREASE OR AFFIRM such real estate assessments. Before a change can be granted, the taxpayer or his agent must overcome a clear presumption in favor of the assessment. The taxpayer or agent must provide a preponderance of the evidence that the assessment of the property is not uniform with the assessments of other similar properties or that the property is assessed in excess of its fair market value.

Meetings of the Board to hear objections will be held in the Public Meeting Room at 101 Court Circle, Warsaw, VA  22572.  These meetings will be open to the public; however, the Governor’s Executive Orders will be strictly enforced.  The meetings will be livestreamed on YouTube and Zoom meeting portals will be made available.  This connection information will be available at www.co.richmond.va.us prior to the meeting dates.

June 19, 2020   9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

June 30, 2020   1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

July 7, 2020      9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

FEMA Flood Insurance Map Changes

FEMA is in the process of updating the Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) for Richmond County.  The preliminary FIRM illustrates the extent of flood hazards in a community by depicting flood risk zones, including the Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA).  Currently the proposed maps are in a review period.  Any property owner that the change is impacting will be notified and an appeal period will be observed through FEMA.  The link below will direct you to the updated maps for Richmond County.  Any questions, please contact Hope Mothershead at (804)333-5652 or This email address is being protected from spambots.
