Mission: To ensure that every child in the region is born healthy, grows in a safe and nurturing environment, enters school ready to learn, and can develop into a healthy and productive adult.
TRHF receives guidance from a diverse group of community partners, including parents, social services, libraries, childcare providers, faith community, civic groups, mental health advocates, school systems, health care providers, Head Start, and Part C services. TRHF, an affiliate of Healthy Families America, has served children and families throughout the Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck since its inception in 1999.
TRHF program evaluations demonstrate outstanding success at improving outcomes for young children who were at the very highest risk for abuse and neglect. Its successful home visiting program reaches out to families to help relieve some of the stress of having a new baby. Services are based on each family's strengths and needs, and include:
-
Information about and referral to community resources
-
In-home mentoring and training to develop problem solving skills
-
Case management services for high risk children from birth to six years old
- Activities to promote positive parent-child relationships and healthy childhood growth and development
