Process for Subdivision Plat Approval

The Land Use Office must approve all property divisions and boundary line adjustments before recording.  Please follow these steps:

· Submit a copy of the preliminary plat to the Director of Planning & Zoning for review

· After preliminary approval from Director of Planning & Zoning, the county will submit the plats to the Department of Health and the Virginia Department of Transportation (if needed) for signatures

· Have owners sign all copies of the plat;  owner’s signatures must be notarized

· Submit all original plats to the Director of Planning & Zoning for the final approval;  a subdivision fee will be required before plats can be picked up

· Take plat to Clerk of the Circuit Court Office for recording
