The Department of Emergency Services consists of two functional areas, the Division of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the Office of Emergency Management (OEM). EMS provides 24 hour-a-day, state of the art basic and advanced life support emergency medical services to the residents and visitors of Richmond County. OEM provides preparedness, response and recovery services to the residents of Richmond County by writing the Emergency Operations Plan, managing the county's emergency operations center, and by coordinating post disaster recovery activities. OEM also provides emergency planning in such areas as special needs, continuity of operations and emergency operations.
