When you dial 2-1-1 in Virginia, you will be connected to a trained professional, who can provide fast, free, confidential referrals to a wide variety of health and human services in your community:

* Basic human needs - Food banks, shelters, rent or utility assistance, energy assistance, temporary financial assistance.

* Physical and mental health resources - Medicaid and family medical insurance, Medicare, pre-natal care, child protective services, crisis intervention, support groups, counseling, alcohol and drug rehabilitation, adult protective services, domestic violence.

* Work initiatives - Educational and vocational training programs, English as a second language classes, job training, General Education Development (GED) preparation, financial and transportation assistance.

* Support from seniors and those with disabilities - Agencies on health and aging, independence centers, adult day care, meals at home, despite care, home health care, transportation and recreation.
