The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office employs a Captain, Lieutenant, 2 Investigators, 2 Sergeants, and 6 full-time Patrol Deputies.
Administration
Captain T. Johnson - Captain Johnson has been in Law Enforcement since 1996, previously serving as a Marine Police Officer with the Virginia Marine Police, a Sergeant with the Northumberland County Sheriff's Office, and a Deputy with the Richmond County Sheriff's Office.
Lieutenant A. Conkle - Lieutenant Conkle started with the Richmond County Sheriff's Office in 2007, and has served as a Patrol Deputy and Investigator prior to promotion to Lieutenant in 2016.
Patrol
The primary function of the Patrol Division is to provide twenty-four hour services to the citizens and businesses of Richmond County to ensure security, safety, and maintenance of order.
Deputies
C. Ashton – Deputy Ashton joined the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office in October 2010. Prior to that, he was employed with the Northern Neck Regional Jail.
D. Campbell – Deputy Campbell joined the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office in 2014. Prior to that, he served as a Police Officer for J. Sergeant Reynolds Community College and 16 years in the U.S. Navy.
S. Davis – Deputy Davis joined the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office in November 2017. Prior to that, he was employed with Tappahannock Police Department and King & Queen Sheriff’s Office.
D. Bunting – Deputy Bunting joined the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office in November 2019. Prior to that, he was employed with Northern Neck Regional Jail and the Caroline Detention Facility.
M. Sanchez – Deputy Sanchez joined the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office in October 2020. Prior to that, he was employed with the Warsaw Police Department.
M. Hall – Deputy Hall joined the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office in June 2020. Prior to that, he was employed with Crop Production Services.
E. Headley – Sergeant Headley joined the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office in July 2021. Prior to that, he was employed by the Warsaw Police Department.
W. McElroy - Deputy McElroy joined the Richmond County Sheriff's Office in February 2022. Prior to that, she was employed by the Warsaw Police Department.
D. Roberts - Deputy Roberts joined the Richmond County Sheriff's Office in October 2022.
J. Haynie - Deputy Haynie joined the Richmond County Sheriff's Office in Ocober 2022. Prior to that, he was employed with the Haynesville Correctional Center.
Investigations
The Criminal Investigation Division is responsible for the investigation of all felony cases, serious misdemeanors which show a pattern of occurrence and cases which involve organized criminal activity, narcotics, vice crimes and/or corruption.
J. Bruce - Investigator Bruce joined the Richmond County Sheriff's Office in January of 2016. Prior to that, he retired as a Major with the Northumberland County Sheriff's Office.
J. Rodriguez – Sergeant Rodriguez joined the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office in July 2018. Prior to that, he served in the U. S. Marine Corps.
C. Herbert – Investigator Herbert joined the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office in July 2019 and served as a Deputy until his promotion to Investigator in 2021 .
